PAW Students & Staff 2012--The King & I |
It is an intensive workshop that teaches young performers about the ins and outs of musical theatre. It lasts a majority of the month, and it is one of the highlights of my summer! This year, I had the very good fortune of making friends with several of my co-workers(some of whom traveled from as far as New York) who shone their light all over our conservative little town, and did a lot to brighten my perspective. You all know who you are, and guess what....I think I love you. :)

I mentioned before that I had absolutely no luck with my gourds....you will be pleased to know that I had six of my seedlings miraculously come back to life! They will henceforth be referred to as the Lazarus Gourds. :) They are now doing swimmingly, and I have a renewed excitement for all of the crafty type things I get to do with them(bowls, spoons, birdhouses, and the like).

Lastly, I, with the help of my very thoughtful and wonderful husband, now have popcorn in the ground. Dave and Dad took the disk to a section of ground that was burned last year(oops!), and Dave tilled and made my rows for me, as I was spending most of my days away at the Workshop. I then planted my adorable little pink corn seeds about every three inches or so. I honestly didn't go round to visit them(Dave also helped me hook up my automatic irrigation system) until Dad came to reassure me that he was still the "corn master". I, of course, recognized the reason for this declaration....my baby-seeds had an almost 100% germ. rate! Huzzah! But when it comes to efficient planning and such, I say, "Yes, Pops, you are the corn master."

There is nothing better than having such positive results to reward us for all of our effort! I am ever-grateful to our Mother Earth for showing us her favor. There will be much rejoicing, come harvest time! I hope that others have also had a reason to look at their month with happy hearts. :)
Until next time,
M
Your crops have already grown so much since I was there! I'm excited to follow the season.
ReplyDeleteThey are blowing my mind! Hooray for sustainability! And I betcha it's not to late to start your potatoes....so you had better start over feeding your dog, or start eating massive amounts of dog food so you can have a growing container ;) much love!
